Wise Old Man

Read to the end...

A giant ship engine failed. The ship's owners tried one expert after another, but none of them could figure but how to fix the engine. Then they brought in an old man who had been fixing ships since he was young. He carried a large bag of tools with him, and when he arrived, he immediately went to work. He inspected the engine very carefully, top to bottom.

Two of the ship's owners were there, watching this man, hoping he would know what to do. After looking things over, the old man reached into his bag and pulled out a small hammer. He gently tapped something. Instantly, the engine lurched into life. He carefully put his hammer away. The engine was fixed!

A week later, the owners received a bill from the old man for ten thousand dollars.

"What?!" the owners exclaimed. "He hardly did anything!"

So they wrote the old man a note saying, "Please send us an itemized bill."

The man sent a bill that read:

Tapping with a hammer...... ......... ........ $ 2..00

Knowing where to tap.......... .......... ...... $ 9,998.00

Effort is important, but knowing where to make an effort makes all the difference .

Guys, I find this very meaningful.. Hope this little message will inspire u to greater heights! :)

Club Update

This is just a short notice for those who don't already know. I think the best thing Maths Club can focus now is revision for the final exams. Many of us need those A's for university conditions. Andrew, Ivan and I have been having revision meetings almost everyday from 2 to 4 since the start of term 3. So if you want to revise for Further maths or normal maths you are welcome to join us and we will have a structured group revision meeting as Mr. Lai always suggests to us.

Thanks.

er... is this nice?

Leaving it be

Well I wanted to change everything back to what it used to be but Aaron say its time for something new... and Ivan told me to let Aaron do what he want so I left it as what Aaron intended it to be. Just help him fix the background pics. The rest are Aaron's 'Hardwork'. xD

I would only change the templates after the 1 week of NO 'BULLYING' AARON campaign ends.

Well here's just some preview of er....new blog design?? need modified abit more

Stop the Violence

Please people out there. Please stop the Violence. Love your neighbor and there shall be peace in your surroundings.
For those people (who they can identify themselves among the class), stop the bullying... Bullying is bad... Why?

This is the normal process of bullying... Photos of (someone being abused / bullied) has been captured using a phone camera.

What can you see from the picture? I do wonder... Reminds me of someone...
So how could you end the bullying?

Thank you and please cooperate at all costs... THANK YOU!!!

PS : This message is brought to you by our people. People in the pictures are kept confidential, but who cares, you guys know who are they anyway.

Time Management A to Z

Time management is undeniably one of the major challenges on your way to success. Time is non-renewable. You either make use of it, or you lose it forever. Time is much more than money.

Recently I attended a leadership training, which touches a bit about time management skill. Here is the A to Z of time management I learnt from the course:

Assign specific tasks to specific days

Break large tasks into small pieces and complete one piece at a time

Challenge your deadlines

Delegate as much as possible

Evaluate your time use on a regular basis

Form letters or paragraphs can help you streamline your paperwork

Get to the office an hour earlier

Handle each piece of paper only once

Invest an hour and a few dollars to prevent the hassle that occurs when you lose essential items

Jot down ideas and work you want to accomplish on a handy note pad

Keep a file of reading material for snack time, lunch breaks or waiting time

Leisure time is important and should be planned into your schedule

Meetings and memos are two of the greatest time waster of all

No” is probably the most effective word in managing your time

Obtain all necessary information and material from others before you begin a project

Prepare a contingency plan when things don’t work out

Quietness and privacy are required for certain projects

Refuse to take work home

Set specific goals

Travel less

Unclear instructions force you to repeat and elaborate

Take vacation intelligently

Worrying won’t help and it tends to get in the way of positive action

Xerox other people’s successful plans and use them as model

Your most important tasks should be taken care of first

Zero in your own personal time wasters and determine how you can make some changes

Are you practicing any of the above? Please share with us your biggest time waster and how you overcome it in the comment section.

Exercise 2a & 2b (FMA students only)

Dear FMA students,
I don't know why I can't put 2a above 2b, but I guess it doesn't matter. This is the exercise given by Mrs Koh today. If the uploaded image is blur or unreadable, please do access to bb7 and get it from there as it is much clearer. Thanks lot. :)

Trojan...

Today, I've suddenly came across a link entitled "Top 10 Viruses roaming around the internet". When I clicked it, I noticed that the various viruses are not all virus at all. Some of them are spywares and some of them are trojans. So I ask myself, what's the difference between a virus and a trojan? So I searched for the definitions using http://www.google.com/ :D!

So, what is a trojan? Here's a few definitions for it.

1. A program that appears desirable but actually contains something harmful; "the contents of a trojan can be a virus or a worm"; "when he downloaded the free game it turned out to be a trojan horse"

2. A native of ancient Troy.

3. Trojan was a British automobile manufacturer; the eponymous marque thereof was produced between 1914 and 1974.

Oh...that's cool...There's so many meanings for the word Trojan...but hmmm what's this?

4. Trojan is a brand name of condoms manufactured by the Church and Dwight. The various types of Trojan condoms account for "70.5 percent of condom sales in drugstores in the United States, giving the brand more than four times the market share of runner-up Durex. Trojan brand condoms claim to be "trusted for 90 years.

Oh my....sorry dad because the free game I've downloaded was actually a common condom :)
